"Giving is not just about making a

donation, it's about making a difference"

- Kathy Calvin

The Next Step Spinal Cord Injury Recovery Centre is one of the only centres that provides care for both spinal cord injuries, and people with neurological conditions such as:

Stroke, Spina Bifida, Parkinson's Disease, Multiple Sclerosis (MS), Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI), Musculoskeletal / Joint Injury Rehabilitation, Chronic Pain, COPD, Weight Loss / Behavioural Change, and Diabetes.

Our team of passionate committee members and volunteers dedicate their time to support our organisation in many different ways whether it be through fundraising, working bee’s, grant writing and public relations. We always have something fun up our sleeve that requires individuals to support or assist by way of volunteering or helping us direct our organisation to continue its evolution. Since 2018 we have been raising money for the centre through our '$100 brick' fundraiser! So far we have raised over $17000 which has gone toward equipment, training and our brand new Wellness Hub.

If you'd like to buy a brick and have your name displayed on our wall, click the button below!

“I have learnt that you don't need to wait for your life to be better before you can help others; on the contrary, you make your life better by helping others even when you are going through hard times”

- Dr Paul TP Wong

As a not-for-profit, we know what it means to receive kind donations and support from our community and that's why we make sure we support

other organisations who rely on monetary donations to keep going.

We take part in a number of fundraisers and campaigns throughout the year to raise funds for charities that are close to our heart! Including the annual Wings for life World Run, 'SIP week' which supports The Perry Cross Spinal Research Foundation and in 2019 we collected items and money to support the wildlife injured as a result of the Australian Bushfires.

We also know that every little helps, no matter how big or small, so when we heard about a  charity that collects bread tags to make wheelchairs, we knew we needed to support them by setting up a collection point located at TNS. Founded in 2006 by Mary Honeybun, the charity supplies 2-3 wheelchairs a month to children and adults in South Africa.

Did you know it it takes 200kg of these tiny little tags to buy one wheelchair?

Click the button below to read more about this amazing charity and don't forget to save your bread tags & drop them into the centre!

“Mal & I had never been upstairs, and I guess that’s when the mission of the Next Step became very similar to that of Spa electrics. They wanted to give back to a Not-for-profit organisation and we were just so thrilled!”

- Rhiannon Tracey

Ever since The Next Step was opened in 2016, the upstairs Wellness Hub had always been a long term goal. We knew the centre needed to incorporate a variety of services to ensure the Athletes had access to everything they needed to to support their recovery - mind, body and soul.

The only way we could do this was to expand the centre and open the upstairs to include treating rooms for Massage, Acupuncture, Naturopathy and a variety of other healing services. This space was designed to be a relaxing area to support athletes and their families during their difficult rehab journey.

Raising money too make this happen was a long term project but we were determined to do it! When Spa Electrics said they wanted to donate an accessible lift, The Wellness Hub dream became a reality and in 2019 it officially opened. Through their generosity they enabled us to create that safe space and provide holistic healing to our athletes and their families and as a centre we will never be able to put into words how much we appreciate their kindness.
