  • Role: Exercise Physiologist
  • Your qualifications and/or what you’re currently studying
Cert III in Allied Health, Bachelor of Exercise and Sport Science, Masters of Clinical Exercise Physiology
  • What inspired you to join The Next Step team?
I had an opportunity to work with those with neurological condition during my degree, I found it incredibly fulfilling and I loved building rapport with them too. I was drawn into the holistic views The Next Step have alongside the facilities they provide really ensuring their athletes have everything they might need to feel supported to optimise their wellbeing and recovery. I knew the team had a lot of passion and care that I wanted to contribute to.

In one sentence, how do you define “The Next Step”?
A guaranteed welcoming, engaging, fun and caring space for our athletes to reach goals and feel supported

What gets you out of bed in the mornings?

I like to typically start my days with exercise, whether that’s a walk, run or going to the gym. Moving my body helps me to feel strong, that I can feel good mentally as well as physically. It helps me to slow down, think about what I am grateful for and continue with the rest of my day.

I help our athletes/clients most when…

When you need someone to believe in you, I love to help foster and keep a positive mindset!

The part of your day at TNS that makes you smile the most

When our athletes arrive, I love meeting everyone and getting to know who you are, alongside hearing any type of achievements made.

A motivational line or reminder you often share with clients

I often find myself saying to others, friends or even at times to myself, that “doing something is better than nothing”.  Having goals is important it helps motivate us, but focusing on doing the smaller stepping stones all adds up to help you get to where you want to go!

Your personal wellness or recovery mantra

Going for a walk, being in nature really helps me to take a step away from everything else that might be going on, taking time for self-reflection. Sometimes instead of a walk, journalling things down also helps me to feel more grounded.

The qualities you bring to The Next Step family

Kindness, empathy, compassion and open minded to ongoing learning

If someone asked what TNS culture feels like, I’d say it’s…

That you will 100% have a laugh but also feel very cared for. A very warm, encouraging and welcoming environment.

Outside of work, you’ll usually find me…

Either exercising, I’m trying to get back into running at the moment. Reading books, doing my paint by numbers, maybe a puzzle, I’ve tried a bit of water colouring too recently. Or catching up with friends.

A fun fact about you

I collected shells when I was younger. I love going to the beach, it was often a holiday spot for my family. Therefore, I would walk along the sand collecting the shells and I still have them to this day, they are all in a jar.

Finish this sentence:

At The Next Step, we don’t just focus on recovery, we focus on…

We want to know who you are, getting the bigger picture of what is important and meaningful to each athlete. We’re also here for support, motivation and bringing hope. On a larger scale we want to assist in positively enhancing mental health and increasing quality of life, and reducing secondary conditions.
