The Next Step Spinal Cord Injury (SCI) Recovery Incorporation, is a not-for-profit organisation registered under the Associations Incorporation Reform Act 2012 (the Act) and is endorsed as a Deductible Gift Recipient (DGR) from 17 May 2011.
The organisation was established by a community of people affected by spinal cord injury both personally and indirectly.
Due to the lack of support and knowledge that follow this injury, these people banded together to establish a world-class spinal cord injury recovery facility in Australia offering proven modalities and exercise therapy to support both the physical and psychological aspects of affected individuals and their families.
Becoming an incorporated association means that the members have decided to give their organisation a formal legal structure. This also means that the club or community group becomes a ‘legal person’, which is a legal entity that stays the same even if its members change.
The legal entity can enter into contracts in its own name; for example, to borrow money or buy equipment. Incorporation protects the individual members of the association from legal liabilities.
The Next Step SCI Recovery Inc is currently seeking individuals to join our Board of Directors as well as our organisation’s membership base.
